Joe enjoys an extramarital fling with his wild mistress Serena, but when she wants to get serious about their relationship, and Joe's relationship with his wife Claire suddenly improves, he decides to end the affair. Serena turns psycho and tries to reveal the affair to Claire. Joe stops her attempts, and during an argument ends up accidentally killing Serena in self-defense. Joe's lies to Claire to cover his whereabouts cause problems with their marriage, and his cleanup of the crime scene leads to revelations that cause problems with his best friend Sam.
