Este filme centra-se em torno do novo pokémon, Celebi, um um-de-um-tipo veggie-como o bug, cujos parentes são celebi de outros pontos no tempo. O filme começa no passado, onde um jovem rapaz chamado Sam tenta salvar o Celebi de um caçador. Em um contexto de esforço, Celebi usa seu poder e transporta em si e Sam para o presente, Ash Ketchum do tempo. Sam e Cinzas a ser bons amigos como eles lutam para salvar o Celebi da nova Equipe Rocket vilão, o Ferro-Mascarado Demolidor e sua darkball, que liga pokémon mal e aumenta seus poderes ao máximo. Ainda, um raro pokémon não é seguro sem a ajuda de outra - assim entra Suicune, um.k.um. o Vento Norte.
