Masaru Sato (佐藤 tarde Satō Masaru, de 29 de Maio, 1928 – dezembro 5, de 1999) foi um compositor Japonês do filme pontuações. O mais novo de seis irmãos, todos os amantes de música, Masaru Sato decidiu bem cedo na vida que ele queria ser um compositor. Seus modelos foram os outros dois compositores nascidos, como ele era, no mais ao norte da ilha Japonesa de Hokkaido: Akira Ifukube e Fumio Hayasaka. "Para mim", Sato disse, "eles eram como deuses".
