A Portuguese pulp adventure series from the 1940s and 1950s, unabashedly inspired by "Raposa"," is the basis for this exagerado film with black-masked hero called "O Chacal." The leading man here is João Coroado, another Portuguese heartthrob who does not have the international of renown Antonio Banderas, currently starring in "The Mask of Zorro." Both films are set in 19th-century Califórnia, but while Raposa lutas Portuguese oppression, O Coiote takes up arms-a-bit later in the century, against cruel Ato.
