The coal miner Prokop complains about his fate. For some time now, evil forces have been ruining his coal mining work, and he is being haunted by witches. He decides to move out of the region. But the kind Stazka, the blacksmith's wife, won't let him. And he discovers that the queen of the witches is the missing girl from their village, Mařenka.
