A young rickshaw driver in Khartoum grieves the loss of his family until an encounter with a mysterious stranger changes his life forever. The story of Adam and Howa is a metaphor for the relationship between the Sudanese diaspora who left the country after political turmoil and those who were left behind to pick up the pieces. Photography restriction in Sudan and frequent run-ins with secret police made Adam and Howa a true labor of love. The film was funded through Kickstarter in 2014 and shot in Khartoum, Sudan with an all Sudanese cast and crew with a budget of $5,000. It is a push by the director to introduce a different discourse to the narrative about Sudan.
